International HERUG Conference 2002
Monash University 26-28 March 2002.

Conference Overview

As Chair of the International HERUG Committee I am pleased to extend an invitation to you to attend the 2002 meeting in Melbourne, Australia, from 26-28 March inclusive.

The executive committee of HERUG look forward to presenting a programme which is informative and stimulating in content whilst also providing ample opportunity to network with colleagues. In this regard I would hope to further develop the theme of cooperation through Community of Practice during the 2002 conference to deliver some practical outcomes.

From Philip Wheatland
Chair of the International HERUG Committee

The Venue for the meeting will be the Carlton Crest.

The Carlton Crest complex offers modern conference facilities and accommodation including heated indoor swimming pool, spa, saunas, gymnasium and a business centre with free Internet access. The venue is a short tram ride (or walk) to the Melbourne CBD and is located opposite beautiful Albert Park with its lake, sports and aquatic centre and golf course.

Note: Monash University, the host University is spread over five major campuses in the State of Victoria and at overseas campuses in South Africa, Italy and Malaysia. The main campus is located in the suburb of Clayton approx 20 km to the east of the Carlton Crest hotel. It is about a 35 minute drive via the freeway. The conference is located in the central business district because of its close proximity to many city sights.

The Conference programme can be accessed by clicking on the link. It is still subject to minor change.

Accomodation
Preferential room rates have been negotiated by Monash University at the Carlton Crest. We have also negotiated corporate rates at a number of other hotels in and around the CBD. This list together with booking information can be accessed on the accommodation page.

As usual the conference will be held in the week preceding Easter to provide the opportunity to those who have travelled such a long distance to stay a little longer and enjoy some of the spectacular attractions, unique animals, fantastic climate and warm and friendly hospitality that down under has to offer.

I look forward to meeting you in Melbourne in March
